Twitter Vine App

I’m sure most of you have heard of Twitters new app Vine. This is an app used to shoot 6 second looping videos. It has quickly caught fire in social media so I decided to check it out. My first Vine I shot was updating my mantle. First tip is you can not shoot a video sideways it needs to be long ways.

Here is my first Vine! To download the app and read more about it go to vine.co.  Have you made a vine yet? What are your thoughts?

Instagram Selling your Photos?

Instagram owners Facebook have recently announced that as of January 16, 2013 Instagram has the right to sell your photos. Is anyone really surprised by this? How did everyone not see a revenue-less platform not coming up with some way to generate revenue? Especially when it’s owned by Facebook who is now making businesses pay for people who already like their page to see their posts.  The second Facebook acquired Instagram it was inevitable something similar to this would happen.

Didn’t we also go through something similar recently with Pinterest? People get all worked about the “fine print” when in all actuality it’s a safety net for the company. It is a “just in case” fall back. For everyone worried about this you can read more here from CNET. If you are REALLY worried as long as you delete your profile by January 16 you don’t have to worry any longer.

Anyone think Instagram will ACTUALLY sell your photos?

Sometimes you get to eat candy or have sex, and that’s when it all feels right.

It seems that everyone is doing this “month of thanks” thing. Well I really don’t feel the need to write one thing I’m thankful for everyday on Facebook this month. I am thankful for way too much to list them out in detail for 30 days. I will simply say I have had my days of bad decisions and struggling to get by and figure out who I am….and life is not always beautiful. But it has all led me to where I am thanks to my family, friends and husband. They are all I am thankful for…..it’s the simple things right?

In the wise words of 2 Broke Girls Max: “In short, there’s really no point to anything but sometimes you get to eat candy or have sex, and that’s when it all feels right.”

Facebook Page Feed

Facebook just launched a new feature called “Page Feed” which can be found on the left side bar under the Pages section. Similar to your other sections like close friends or groups you are a part of when post accumulate from a brand a number will show telling you there are post to view. Users now have to click on that tab in order to see brand’s they like updates. Some brand updates will still show in your news feed but only according to Facebook’s algorithm and edgerank.

My view on this is that if someone likes your brand page they WANT to see your post. They like your page for a reason….why is Facebook deciding what post you should and shouldn’t see from a page you like. If the person didn’t want to see your post they would unlike your page. I have done promoted post which I’ve discussed previously and seen success. But why should I have to promote to people who already Like my page? What are your thoughts?

Pinterest for Business

With Pinterest being a known driver of revenue and traffic for many industries it FINALLY releases Pinterest for Businesses. If you already have a personal account you are using for you business no worries, you can convert it. So what does this offer? You can now “verify” you account and web address to have it show on your profile. It also gives you easy access to Pin it and follow buttons. The only real new feature is the verification process….the buttons were always available just not as prevalent. To convert or create your business account visit: http://business.pinterest.com/. Instagram Online Profiles

Instagram is stepping out from the world of smart phone app only. You now have an online profile that can be seen from your desktop computer! Simply put in instagram.com/ your user name. For instance my personal profile is www.instagram.com/meganswage and you can see all my Instagram activity by going there.

The images up top rotate out and serve as your “cover photo.” You can comment and like images as usual but can not add photos….but why would you want to add the photo from your computer? One thing I believe it’s missing….being able to search for users, hashtags and images. In a nut shell though it’s about time Instagram….thank you 🙂

Here is what your online profile will look like.
